NY Local promotes jobs in New York State by presenting stories about businesses, research institutes, farms, and especially individuals who are contributing substantially to the growth and sustainability of agriculture and all of its related fields. The combined up-state and down-state audience is the general public, especially legislators, job-seekers, teachers and students. Produced “from the bottom up”, the stories are posted regularly to the internet, related teaching materials are made available online, and seasonally, the best of these stories are aggregated together by NY public television for broadcast. A regional call-in segment with industry experts to answer viewer’s questions will follow each seasonal TV broadcast. The production team has over 40 years of experience and has partnered with WCNY-TV as our Public Broadcasting arm and the project’s fiscal sponsor. A radio component of NY Local is planned to journalistically explore, in a timely fashion, current news about New York agriculture.

NY Local promotes jobs in New York State by examining the public policies, technological innovations, and entrepreneurial initiatives that encourage and support employment in agricultural operations throughout all of New York State.

NY Local does this by presenting stories about businesses, research institutes, schools, farms, and especially individuals who are contributing substantially to the growth and sustainability of agriculture and all of its related fields. The audience is state-wide, including up-state, down-state, urban, suburban, and rural.

NY Local is a new media project that is produced “from the bottom up”. The stories of people and institutions are posted regularly to the internet, related teaching materials are made available online, and seasonally, the best of these stories are aggregated together by NY public television for broadcast. A regional call in segment with industry experts to answer viewer’s questions will follow each seasonal broadcast.

NY Local is a new media project from television producers who have been working in the field of science, business, and agricultural educational TV for over 40 years. The producers have worked in new media since 1994.  The production team has partnered with WCNY-TV as our Public Broadcasting arm and the project’s fiscal sponsor. A radio component of NY Local is planned to journalistically explore, in a timely fashion, current news about New York agriculture.

NY Local is about jobs… jobs for the people of New York, who grow, make, market, and consume the agricultural products of New York… jobs that support the farmer, jobs that bring added value to crops by marketing, preparing, and selling foods and other farm products to consumers everywhere.

NY Local is about the people who grow food, fiber, and renewable energy in New York State …the people who live and work in New York’s urban, suburban, rural, and wild places at jobs that cannot be outsourced;  jobs that depend directly on the land and people of the Empire State.
